I had the best day soaking up some vitamin D and thought I would share one of my favourite DIY projects, terrariums! My two terrariums make me giggle constantly (this is a result of me changing the position of the dinos so they look like they are snacking on my succulents or cacti). They didn’t take long to make and they are a great addition to any space (it is almost like having a miniature world within a room). These are the simple steps to creating a teeny ecosystem.
1) Get your hands on some plants! These can be succulents and cacti (require very little water and attention) or mosses and other tropical (these will thrive in a moist environment)
2) Find some fun containers. These can range from fishbowls to wine glasses anything will do (thrift stores are the place to pick these up for a steal)
3) Potting soil and sand. I first mixed potting soil with sand to help with the drainage (succulents and cacti hate their roots being wet) and added more sand to the top (this made it look pretty as well)
4) Spice it up! I used rocks I found at the beach (make sure to boil them to get rid of the salt water before placing them in your terrarium if you do so). My final addition has been my two dinos! I picked them up a whole bag of them at the thrift store for 99 cents. They are the best!
This project is great because each one has such a unique personality! They make great gifts and are extremely low maintenance. These guys have been going strong for close to a month now and I barley water them. About once a week I mist them with my spray bottle. I have mine in my window and they seem content. If you have any questions please ask or if you create your own I would love to see them 🙂
